abstract |
The present invention relates to diagnosing lung tumours. The invention provides methods which are suitable for diagnosing lung tumours on the basis of samples taken either during surgery or from lung biopsies (here e.g. by means of DNA micro arrays) and on the basis of liquid biopsies. In the case of liquid biopsies, cell-free DNA (cfDNA) is used. Both particularly suitable analysis methods and particularly suitable sets of methylation markers are described. The subject matter of the invention also relates to means which are suitable for diagnosing lung cancer by testing the methylation of a set of methylation markers, e.g. in cell-free DNA (cfDNA) from liquid biopsy samples from patients, wherein the means comprises oligonucleotides which are able to hybridise with DNA that comprises the methylation markers, and relates to the use of these methods and means for diagnosing, i.e. for example determining, subtyping and prognostic characterisation of lung tumours. |
