abstract This electrode for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery has, on a current collector, an active material layer including a carboxymethyl cellulose and/or a salt thereof, wherein the analysis of a scanning electron microscope image in the depth direction from the surface layer of the active material layer to the current collector shows that the average brightness derived from carboxymethyl cellulose and/or a salt thereof obtained by electron-staining of the active material layer using ruthenium tetroxide (RuO4) is at least 85.
