abstract |
There is described a method of determining plasma fibrinogen concentration in a whole blood (WB) sample. The method comprises the steps of contacting the WB sample with a sedimentation agent operable to accelerate sedimentation of red blood cells (RBC) in the WB sample; contacting the WB sample with a fibrin polymerisation activator operable to provide delayed polymerisation of fibrin in the WB sample; contacting the WB sample with light; and measuring light scattered from the sample to determine plasma fibrinogen concentration. The invention extends to a kit of parts and composition for use in the method. |
