abstract Provided is a laser amplifier capable of highly efficiently removing heat from a laser medium. The laser amplifier (1) comprises a buffer member (50) that is disposed between the laser medium (10) and a heat sink (20) and relieves force applied to the laser medium due to deformation of the heat sink. The buffer member contains molybdenum, tungsten, graphite, an aluminum-diamond composite, a copper-diamond composite, or a silver-diamond composite.
