abstract Provided is a rectification process of 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol, comprising rectifying 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol containing ester impurities, and introducing water during the process of rectification. The rectification process of 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol provided by the present invention facilitates the hydrolysis reaction of the ester impurities in 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol by introducing water into 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol containing ester impurities during the process of rectification. Alkali hydrolysis and extractant extraction are not required, thereby reducing equipment investment and operation costs, and the pressure is reduced, the safety is high, the content of ester impurities in 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol can be effectively reduced, the acid value of the final product can be reduced, and the product quality can be improved. The mass percentage of 2,2-dimethyl-1,3-propanediol in the final product is 99.2% or more, and this is also beneficial to the improvement of the properties of down-stream products.
