abstract The purpose of the present invention is to provide a friction material that is used for a disk brake in a vehicle etc., and that is molded with an NAO-material friction-material composition, wherein it is possible to suppress brake vibrations during high-temperature braking. In order to achieve the purpose, the friction material, which is used as a disk brake pad and which is molded with an NAO-material friction-material composition that contains a binder, a fiber base material, an organic friction-adjusting material, an inorganic friction-adjusting material, and a lubricant and that does not contain a copper component, uses the friction-material composition containing: 1-4 wt% of cashew dust with respect to the total amount of the friction-material composition, as an organic friction-adjusting material; 7-12 wt% of muscovite with respect to the total amount of the friction-material composition, as an inorganic friction-adjusting material; and 0.5-5 wt% of aluminum particles with respect to the total amount of the friction-material composition, as an inorganic friction-adjusting material.
