abstract | The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a cationic electrodeposition paint composition that has outstanding edge-section corrosion resistance, flat-section water resistance, and finish properties; and a painted article with the same outstanding paint film performance. As a solution, a cationic electrodeposition paint composition is provided that contains an epoxy resin (A) containing an amino group, a blocked polyisocyanate compound (B), and a polyvinyl compound (C) that includes a monomer represented by formula (I) and/or formula (II) as a constituent component. (I): CH2=CH-NH-C(=O)-R (In the formula, R is an organic group with a carbon number of at least 1.) (II): CH2=C(-R1)-C(=O)-N(-R2)(-R3) (In the formula, R1 is a hydrogen atom or a methyl group. R2 and R3 may be the same or different, each being a hydrogen atom or an organic group with a carbon number of at least 1, and R2 and R3 may have a ring structure in which the two are interlinked.
