abstract |
A process for preparing long-chain branched isotactic polypropylene (LCB-PP) is provided. The process includes copolymerizing propylene with an asymmetric diene of formula I using a heterogeneous iso-specific MgCl2-supported Ziegler-Natta catalyst. The copolymerization results in an isotactic polypropylene-styrene (PP-St) copolymer of formula II. The process includes pelletizing the PP-co-BSt copolymer in an extruder to produce the LCB-PP. n is an integer from 1 to 4, x is an integer between 500 and 10,000, and y is an integer between 1 and 10. |
