abstract This image display device is provided with an image forming device 30, optical elements 40 provided on the face front side of an observer 80, and a movement control device, wherein: when ear-side regions 85 of the observer 80 are referred to as optical element rear regions with respect to the optical elements 40, the image forming device 30 is disposed in the optical element rear regions; an image emitted from the image forming device 30 is obliquely incident onto the optical elements 40 from the optical element rear regions, is reflected on the optical elements 40, and reaches the pupils 82 of the observer 80; and when the positions of the pupils 82 of the observer 80 vary, the movement control device moves the optical elements 40, and controls the positions of the image emitted from the image forming device 30.
