abstract |
Disclosed is a cutting tool which includes a rake face and a flank face and which is provided with a base material and a coating disposed on said base material, wherein: the coating comprises an Al2O3 layer, in which at least a part of a region d1 in the rake face has a minimum value Rmin in terms of residual stress; the minimum value Rmin more than -0.27 GPa but not more than -0.1 GPa; in the case where the rake face and the flank face are contiguous to each other via a cutting edge face, the region d1 is an area between a virtual line D1 that is, on the rake face, 1 mm separated from a virtual edge line formed by intersection of a surface extended from the rake face and a surface extended from the flank face and a virtual line D2 that is 3 mm separated from the abovementioned virtual edge line on the rake face; and in the case where the rake face and the flank face are contiguous to each other via an edge line, the region d1 is an area between the virtual line D1 that is 1 mm separated from the edge line on the rake face and the virtual line D2 that is 3 mm separated from the edge line on the rake face. |
