abstract The present invention provides a negative electrode plate for a lead storage battery, the negative electrode plate being provided with a negative electrode collector and a negative electrode material. The negative electrode material contains a polymer compound. The negative electrode plate is divided into 32 equal parts in a matrix shape measuring 8 rows and 4 columns in which the row direction is a Y direction and the column direction is an X direction, where the X direction is a direction from the upper-end part toward the lower-end part of the negative electrode plate and the Y direction is a direction intersecting the X direction. When the average value of the polymer compound content of the negative electrode material in all 32 regions is represented by C0, the number N(1-4) of regions, from among the 16 regions in 1-4, in which the polymer compound content is lower than C0, and the number N(5-8) of regions, from among the 16 regions in 5-8, in which the polymer compound content is lower than C0, satisfy the relationship N(1-4) < N(5-8).
