titleOfInvention Device for medically examining body openings
abstract The invention relates to a device which can be used predominantly in medical applications for examining body openings, such as the vagina or rectum, said device being introduced into the body opening of a hollow organ and closing same in a pressure-tight manner such that by using supplied compressed air or carbon dioxide ("positive pressure medium") for example, the hollow organ is expanded under positive pressure without the use of mechanical means. An implementation with a viewing window allows an unobstructed optical examination of the hollow organ without the interfering elements of an instrument which is conventionally introduced into the hollow organ, such as a speculum for example. One embodiment contains a short hollow nozzle that can be introduced into the body opening and is closed outwardly by a cover into which a lens is set for viewing the body opening. The nozzle is surrounded by an annular element which is anchored in the flexible tissue of the body opening and produces the closure against positive pressure while simultaneously preventing the device from unintentionally slipping out or being released due to a contraction. An opening for feeding the positive pressure medium leads from the outside into the interior of the device and allows the use of external measures which provide or generate the positive pressure. Additional openings ("actuator lock") allow additional instruments to be introduced, for example for removing a smear, said opening being designed to be pressure-tight. An implementation without a viewing window also allows for a training process and a tightening or restoration of the musculature and the tissue of the hollow organ and adjoining body regions. An external positive pressure source, which builds up and reduces the positive pressure in intervals, broadens the range of said therapeutic applications and can be used for pleasure and the recovery, increase, and maintenance of sexual health.
