A composite extract comprising a Stewartia pseudocamellia leaf extract and a Maclura tricuspidata leaf extract, of the present invention, effectively inhibits the gene expression of MMP-1, 3 and 13, which are enzymes causing chondrocyte damage, and thus exhibits a remarkable effect in the prevention, alleviation or treatment of arthritis. |
