abstract Provided are: an organic EL element that has high efficiency and high driving stability while having a low driving voltage; and an organic electroluminescence element material suitable for the same. Also, this organic EL element material comprises an indolocarbazole compound represented by general formula (1). Further, in the organic electroluminescent element, the organic electroluminescent element material is used as a first host and a carbazole compound is used as a second host. L1 to 3 are direct bonds, aromatic hydrocarbon groups, or aromatic heterocyclic groups; and B1 to B3 are direct bonds or biphenyldiyl groups represented by formula (1b), and at least one among B1 to B3 is a biphenyldiyl group.
