The present invention provides: a biocompatible material which has improved biocompatibility by having a peptide adsorb thereon, said peptide having high adhesion to resins and being not easily separated from the surfaces of resins; and a functional material which is provided with this biocompatible material. A biocompatible material (10) according to the present invention comprises a resin (1) and a peptide (2) that is adsorbed on the resin (1). The resin (1) has a methoxycarbonyl group and a methyl group, and 70% or more of the amino acid residues of the peptide (2) are tryptophan residues or arginine residues; or alternatively, the resin 1 is a fluororesin, and 40% or more of the amino acid residues of the peptide (2) are 2, 3, 4, 5, 6-pentafluorophenylalanine residues, 3-(trifluoromethyl)alanine residues, serine residues, threonine residues, histidine residues, aspartic acid residues, glutamic acid residues, phenylalanine residues or asparagine residues. A functional material according to the present invention comprises the biocompatible material (10) and a functional substance; and the functional substance is held on the surface of the biocompatible material (10), or is discharged from the surface of the biocompatible material (10). |
