titleOfInvention Method and device for detecting and adjusting decorative colour formulations in alignment with the visual perception of texture characteristics
abstract The invention relates to a computer-implemented method comprising at least the following steps: receiving (10) at least one image or a plurality of images, wherein, using an image-capturing unit, the at least one image is captured with a determined measurement geometry or each image of the plurality of images is captured with another measurement geometry on a surface of a target coating; carrying out (12) an image analysis for each of the obtained images, using at least one processor which is configured to execute at least one filtering technique; identifying (14) at least one sparkle point within a respective image; carrying out a characteristic analysis of the at least one identified sparkle point in the respective image in terms of at least one predefined size characteristic, using the at least one processor; determining (16) at least one value for the at least one predefined size characteristic for the at least one sparkle point; calculating (18) a size distribution for the respective image on the basis of the determined value for the at least one predefined size characteristic using the processor; providing (26) a formulation for a coating, which is the same as or at least similar to the target coating in appearance, taking into consideration the calculated size distribution and using the processor.
