titleOfInvention A binocular campimetric pupillometer device for neuropharmacological and functional brain assessment
abstract The invention relates to a binocular campimetric pupillometer device for neuropharmacological and/or functional brain assessment, comprising: a mask (2) which, installed over the eyes of a patient (1), blocks out a large amount of the light arriving from the exterior; stimulation units (4) disposed in the mask (2), to emit luminous stimuli toward each of the eyes of the patient (1) independently and at specific angles; measuring units (3) disposed in the mask (2) to measure the pupillary response to the stimuli emitted by the stimulation units (4), where each measuring unit (3) comprises a camera (3a) which focuses on the pupil of the eye of the patient (1); and at least one control unit (5) connected to the stimulation units (4) and to the measuring units (3), for the independent control of the stimuli emitted by each stimulation unit (4) and the independent control of each measuring unit (3), where each stimulation unit (4) comprises a plurality of light sources disposed on a perimetral ring encircling the ocular perimeter, enabling the illumination of the eye and its retina at each campimetric radian; said light sources are able to emit light at different wavelengths, producing a flash which is perceived as white by the patient (1), likewise infrared emission, which is invisible to the patient (1). The device enables the objective assessment of the neurological and neuropharmacological disruptions associated with the visual pathway by means of campimetry based on the pupillary response.
