The present invention addresses the problem of providing a light-absorbing anisotropic film that exhibits an excellent adhesiveness to adjacent layers, and a laminate and image display device that use the light-absorbing anisotropic film. A light-absorbing anisotropic film according to the present invention is formed using a liquid crystal composition comprising a liquid crystal polymer compound and a dichroic substance. With reference to the signal originating with the dichroic substance as detected by time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry, the light-absorbing anisotropic film satisfies the relationship in formula (I-1) between Imax, which is the maximum intensity in the thickness direction of the film, and Isur, which is the intensity for at least one surface of the film. 2 ≤ Imax/Isur ...
