abstract Provided is a detection means for identifying a bacterium responsible for acute sinusitis. According to the present invention, a method for detecting Haemophilus influenzae or Streptococcus pneumoniae responsible for acute sinusitis caused by bacterial infection, comprises: a step for measuring the per-cotton swab mass of ribosomal protein L7/L12 of the responsible bacterium in a nasal swab sample that is collected from a subject and attached to a cotton swab, using an antibody that specifically binds to ribosomal protein L7/L12 of the responsible bacterium, and that can be used to distinguish the responsible bacterium from other bacteria in terms at the genus or species level; and determining a determination criteria value (cut-off value) for determining whether a responsible bacterium has been detected or not on the basis of the measured value obtained.
