abstract Anti-inflammatory compositions that merely treat symptoms of inflammation and not its root causes have frequently been shown to impair healing processes and exacerbate disease. The present disclosure includes novel compositions, combinations and methods of treatment that overcome this shortcoming by down regulating excessive inflammation and by activating cellular functions supporting healing processes. These novel compositions include combinations of ingredients selected from three groups wherein the first group of ingredients includes effective amounts of herring roe proteins, krill proteins, herring roe oil, krill oil, fish oils, docosahexaenoic acid, docosapentaenoic acid, eicosapentaenoic acid, stearidonic acid, alpha linoleic acid, gamma linoleic acid, dihomo gamma-linolenic acid, the lithium and zinc salts of said fatty acids; the second group of ingredients includes effective amounts of phosphatidyl inositol, inositol, aspirin; and the third group of ingredients includes effective amounts of compositions capable of activating autophagy.
