abstract The purpose of the present invention is to provide: a methacrylic resin which enables the achievement of a molded body that is excellent in terms of the color in a long optical path; and a methacrylic resin composition. A methacrylic resin according to the present invention has a structural unit (X) that has a ring structure in the main chain, and is characterized by having a glass transition temperature (Tg) of more than 120°C but 160°C or less, while being also characterized in that if a chloroform solution containing 2.0% by mass of this methacrylic resin is subjected to spectroscopy, the luminous intensity at 514 nm as obtained at an excitation wavelength of 436 nm with a slit width of 2 nm is 30 × 10-10 mol/L or less in terms of concentration of ethanol solution of fluorescein.
