abstract |
The present invention provides compositions and methods for the improved healing of chronic wounds. In some embodiments, egg cellular extracts are used to 1) increase expression and/or release by macrohphages of one or more cell mediators selected from the group consisting of IL-1 RA, IL-6, IL-10 and VEGF; 2) decrease expression and/or release by macrophages of one or more cell mediators selected from the group consisting of IL-12, TNF-α, MCP-1, and IL-8; 3) increase expression by macrophages of AMAC-1; 4) promote orientation of macrophage phenotype to an alternatively activated phenotype; and 5) combinations thereof. |
