abstract | Provided are: magenta toner that, even when used in a small amount, has a higher reflection density and a color more vivid than conventional products, that has a good balance between low-temperature fixability and heat-resistant preservability, that has excellent printing durability, and that includes fewer bulky particles; and a method for producing the magenta toner. This magenta toner contains a binding resin and a magenta colorant, wherein a magenta pigment A obtained by surface-treating a pigment represented by formula (1) by a rosin acid metal salt is included as the magenta colorant, the content of the magenta pigment A is 1-5 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the binding resin, and the rosin acid metal salt is contained in an amount of 1-7 parts by mass with respect to 100 parts by mass of the magenta pigment A (in formula (1), Me represents a divalent metal). |
