[Problem] To provide a catalyst with which a hydrocarbon oil can be hydrotreated with high desulfurization activity.n[Solution] A hydrotreating catalyst for hydrocarbon oils which comprises an inorganic composite oxide support comprising alumina as a main component and an active metal ingredient fixed to the support, wherein the active metal ingredient comprises, as active metal species, a first metal, which is molybdenum and/or tungsten, and a second metal, which is cobalt and/or nickel, the hydrotreating catalyst having a Lewis acid amount and a Brӧnsted acid amount per unit surface area, as determined by pyridine desorption at 250°C and a one-point BET method, of 0.80 μmol/m 2 or larger and 0.03 μmol/m 2 or less, respectively. |
