Provided is a method for producing, under mild conditions and in a simple manner, a carbon matter-containing material having a precisely controlled structure. Also provided is a carbon matter-containing material in which a carbon matter and an inorganic substance are covalently bonded. Further provided is an intermediate material that can be produced industrially under mild conditions and that is useful for, for example, industrially manufacturing carbon-coated inorganic particles, hollow carbon microparticles, and the like. This carbon matter-containing material production method comprises a heating step (I) for heating a composition that contains an inorganic substance and a compound (A) in which, by heating, a condensation reaction takes place between molecules of the same type and/or between dissimilar molecules, wherein the heating temperature during the heating step (I) is at least (T-150)°C, where the condensation reaction temperature of said compound (A) is set at T°C. This carbon matter-containing material comprises a carbon matter and an inorganic substance, wherein at least a portion of the carbon matter and at least a portion of said inorganic substance are covalently bonded. The organic-inorganic composite according to the present invention comprises a carbon matter and an inorganic substance, wherein the carbon matter is soluble in a solvent. |
