titleOfInvention | Digital ceramic inkjet inks for glass and method for obtaining same |
abstract | The invention relates to ceramic inkjet inks for non-porous substrates (such as glasses and metals), by means of which the viscosity of the inks at the jetting temperature of 33-50ºC is 8-20 mPa·s and increases substantially by a factor of more than 5 (at more than 100 mPa·s) after discharging onto the substrate. The invention also relates to formulation/processing steps and to the adjustment of the dynamic and volumetric properties suitable for: (i) inkjet printing in the channel of the printhead; and (ii) the high viscosity desirable after discharge onto a glass substrate. The ink comprises: a glass frit composition in the form of particles having a Dv90 volume particle size distribution of less than 1.5 µm; carriers (30-50% by weight); and additives (0-10%). The ceramic ink mitigates ink spatter, and diffusion during and after discharge and eliminates/reduces image defects caused by contamination by dust from the environment on the wet inks after printing. |
