titleOfInvention Optical integrated chip
abstract An optical integrated chip, wherein a protective layer (35) is added on an active layer area near a docking interface between an active layer (33) and a non-active layer (34). A forbidden bandwidth of the protective layer is greater than a forbidden bandwidth of the active layer. Due to the role of the protective layer, the current density of the active layer adjacent to the docking interface is decreased, so that the effect of a high current density on the active layer adjacent to the docking interface during the operation of the optical integrated chip is reduced, thereby reducing the possibility that crystal defects of the material of the active layer adjacent to the docking interface in the optical integrated chip continue to grow. Therefore, the addition of a protective layer reduces the possibility that the crystal defects of the material of the active layer at the docking interface continue to grow, reduces the risk of gradual deterioration or even sudden failure of the performance of a semiconductor optical chip during operation, and improves the long-term reliability of the semiconductor optical chip.
