abstract | The purpose of the present invention is to provide a compressor in which trifluoroiodomethane (CF3I) is used as a coolant and for which performance decline caused by demagnetization of a permanent magnet is suppressed. The present invention comprises, in a sealed container: a compression mechanism 2 that compresses a coolant; and an electric motor 7 that drives the compression mechanism 2. The electric motor 7 comprises: a stator 7b that has a coil; and a rotor 7a that has a permanent magnet 33. The coolant is trifluoroiodomethane (CF3I) alone or is a mixed coolant that includes trifluoroiodomethane and another coolant. The present invention also comprises: a temperature sensor 64 that detects the discharge temperature of coolant that is discharged from the compression mechanism 2; and an inverter control means 66 that controls the electric motor 7. On the basis of a signal from the temperature sensor 64, the inverter control means 66 controls the current supplied to the electric motor 7 such that the current flowing in the electric motor 7 is at or below a 1% demagnetization start current for the permanent magnet 33 at the discharge temperature of the coolant. |
