abstract The invention relates to a device for changing an optical property in areas, comprising a first electrode and a second electrode, which has a structuring in at least one first electrode region and a second electrode region, an intermediate region being arranged between the first electrode region and the second electrode region. The device comprises an active material which is arranged between the first electrode and the second electrode, and which is designed to alter the optical property on the basis of an electrical potential difference between the first electrode and the second electrode. The active material forms a continuous layer which covers at least one partial region of the first electrode region and a partial region of the second electrode region, and which is arranged in the intermediate region.
