abstract The present invention relates to a composition for skin moisturizing and skin soothing, containing, as an active ingredient, a combined extract of Sedum sarmentosum Bunge, Opuntia ficus indica and Sempervivum tectorum L. A composition of the present invention induces the differentiation of a cornified envelope, increases the expression of cornified envelope structural proteins, increases the expression amounts of filaggrins and increases the expression amounts of tight junction structural proteins, thereby enabling a skin moisturizing effect to be improved and itching to be alleviated by means of skin barrier strengthening and skin moisture control. In addition, the composition is noncytotoxic and has no side effects with respect to the skin, and thus can be safely applied to an external use skin preparation and a cosmetic composition.
