This steam generation device comprises a heater (7), a vaporization chamber (6) heated by the heater (7), a tank (5) for storing water, a flow path section (9) through which the tank (5) and the vaporization chamber (6) communicate with one another, and a scale-suppressing agent (12) causing a scale-suppressing ingredient to elute into the water supplied from the tank (5), through the flow path section (9), and to the vaporization chamber (6). The scale-suppressing agent (12) contains an acrylic acid polymer or an acrylic acid polymer modified body. According to this embodiment, the scale-suppressing agent (12) can cause an appropriate concentration of the scale-suppressing ingredient to be eluted over a long time into the water needed for steam generation. As a result, segregation and deposition of scale inside the vaporization chamber (6) can be suppressed. |
