abstract |
A dietary supplement composition is formulated in an oral dosage form and in a therapeutic amount to treat and alleviate symptoms of joint pain in an animal, and includes eggshell membrane, astaxanthin, and pro-inflammatory low molecular weight hyaluronic acid/hyaluronan having a molecular weight of 0.5 to 300 kilodaltons (kDa) and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid/hyaluronan having a molecular weight greater than 300 kDa. The high molecular weight hyaluronic acid/hyaluronan is greater than 50 percent of the total for the low and high molecular weight hyaluronic acid/hyaluronan and effective to modulate the low molecular weight hyaluronic acid/hyaluronan. |
