The present invention addresses the problem of providing: a high-purity raw material with which an organic EL material exhibiting high brightness, high efficiency, low voltage driving, and long service life can be synthesized; a purification method thereof; and a method for producing a light-emitting material synthesized using the same. A solution to the problem is a compound which is a raw material for synthesizing an organic EL material, wherein the content of impurities having a molecular weight greater than the molecular weight of the compound is 0.15% or less, and the content of the impurities is expressed by a percentage of the sum of peak areas having shorter retention times than peak areas identified as said compound in a chromatogram of an organic solvent-based size-exclusion chromatography with respect to the sum of all peak areas. |
