abstract | Provided is a flux which is able to achieve specific rheological characteristics both at normal temperature and in a thermal history expected by soldering, and which is capable of suppressing the amount of a residue after soldering, thereby leaving less residue. This flux contains a first alcohol compound that has two or more OH groups and a melting point of less than 25°C, and a second alcohol compound that has two or more OH groups and a melting point of more than 25°C. The first alcohol compound is glycerol; the second alcohol compound is 2, 5-dimethylhexane-2, 5-diol; and the weight after heating 10 mg of this flux, which has a viscosity at 25°C of from 10 Pa·s to 50 Pa·s (inclusive) and a viscosity at 100°C of more than 0 Pa·s but 1 Pa·s or less, from 25°C to 250°C at a heating rate of 10°C/min in an N2 atmosphere is 15% or less of the weight before heating. |
