abstract | The present invention provides compositions and methods for treating or preventing gastrointestinal damage associated with acute or chronic non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) therapy, including, for example, NSAID-induced gastropathy or enteropathy. In various embodiments, the invention relates to administering a regimen of larazotide (or a derivative) to a patient to repair or prevent injury to mucosal tissue of the gastrointestinal epithelium. In accordance with the invention, larazotide functions to repair injured mucosal tissue or prevent injury to mucosal tissue in a patient undergoing acute or chronic NSAID therapy. |
