Provided is a surface-coated cutting tool including a base material and a coating that covers the base material, wherein: the coating contains a hard coating layer comprising domain regions and a matrix region; the domain regions are regions that are, in the matrix region, separated into a plurality of portions and that are present in a dispersed state; the domain regions each have a structure in which a first layer comprising a first Alx1Ti(1-x1) compound and a second layer comprising a second Alx2Ti(1-x2) compound are laminated together; the matrix region has a structure in which a third layer comprising a third Alx3Ti(1-x3) compound and a fourth layer comprising a fourth Alx4Ti(1-x4) compound are laminated together; the first AlTi compound has a hexagonal crystal structure, the second AlTi compound has a cubic crystal structure, the third AlTi compound has a hexagonal crystal structure, and the fourth AlTi compound has a cubic crystal structure; and x1 is 0.89-0.97, x2 is 0.5-0.61, x3 is 0.86-0.95, and x4 is 0.5-0.65. |
