The present invention relates to a method for preparing a positive electrode active material for a secondary battery, the method comprising the steps of: preparing a lithium composite transition metal oxide containing nickel (Ni), cobalt (Co), and at least one selected from the group consisting of manganese (Mn) and aluminum (Al); washing the lithium composite transition metal oxide to remove a lithium byproduct present on the surface of the lithium composite transition metal oxide; and mixing the washed lithium composite transition meal oxide, a cobalt (Co)-containing raw material, and a boron (B)-containing raw material, followed by high-temperature thermal treatment at a temperature of 600°C or higher, and to the positive electrode active material thus prepared. |
