titleOfInvention Detection of albumin in urine using magnetic nanorods
abstract Even though conventional laboratory methods of urine protein assay occasionally show the absence of protein, some patients suffer kidney pain, or experience changes in the color or smell of their urine and urinary tract infection (UTI). In these circumstances, to treat the patient, physicians are obliged to separate the kidney and remove the adrenal gland. Another problem is erythropoietin reduction, which is the most important hematopoietic hormone of body. Thus, if urine protein can be detected timely, doctors would be able to prevent kidney destruction. Described here a magnetic detection method with high sensitivity for measuring low levels of albumin in urine using magnetic nanorods (MNRs) for early detection of albuminuria cases.
