abstract The invention relates to a method for assessing the mass concentration of uranium in a material containing uranium (16) by gamma spectrometry. The method comprises the following steps: a) measuring (600) a gamma radiation energy spectrum of the material using a detector, said energy spectrum including at least a 92 keV energy line and a 98 keV energy line, each line having a net area; b) assessing (610) by calculating a magnitude characterising the mass concentration of uranium in the material using the net area of the 92 keV energy line and the net area of the 98 keV energy line of the measured energy spectrum.
