titleOfInvention Honeycomb filter
abstract This honeycomb filter is configured from a ceramic block in which a plurality of honeycomb fired bodies are bundled via an adhesive layer, wherein the honeycomb fired body comprises a porous cell partition that separates and forms a plurality of cells serving as exhaust gas channels, an exhaust gas introduction cell with the exhaust gas inlet side end opened and the exhaust gas outlet side end seam-sealed, and an exhaust gas discharge cell with the exhaust gas outlet side end opened and the exhaust gas inlet side end seam-sealed. The honeycomb filter is characterized in that: the plurality of cells are made by alternating, in the cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the cell, large capacity cells and small capacity cells with a smaller cross sectional area than the large capacity cells; and the cross sectional areas of the large capacity cells and the small capacity cells adjacent to the outer circumferential wall on one face are 60 – 80% of the cross sectional areas of the large capacity cells and small capacity cells that are not adjacent to the outer circumferential wall in the cross section perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the cell.
