titleOfInvention | Electrochemical device using dye |
abstract | Provided is a redox flow battery which uses a novel organic molecule as an active material. An electrochemical device which is charged and discharged by supplying a positive electrode electrolyte solution and a negative electrode electrolyte solution to an electrochemical cell that is provided with a positive electrode 3, a negative electrode 1, and a diaphragm 5 that is interposed between the positive electrode 3 and the negative electrode 1. The positive electrode electrolyte solution and/or the negative electrode electrolyte solution contains, as an active material, an organic molecule that is represented by formula (I). (In the formula, each of R1, R2, R4 and R5 independently represents a C1-5 alkyl group or a phenylmethyl group wherein a phenyl ring may be substituted by a sulfo group; R3 and R6 represent hydrogen atoms or may combine together to form -O-; X represents a carboxyl group or a sulfo group; and each of Y and Z independently represents a hydrogen atom, a hydroxyl group or a sulfo group.) |
