The invention relates to a method for producing pigment particles. According to said method, precursor particles of manganese and zinc-containing mixed carbonates are formed, this being achieved by the simultaneous precipitation of manganese and zinc carbonates by adding a carbonate and/or bicarbonate salt to a first aqueous solution of a water-soluble, divalent zinc salt and a water-soluble, divalent manganese salt in a predetermined molar ratio of zinc salt to manganese salt. The precursor particles are isolated from the first solution, washed and dried. They are then fired in order to obtain the pigment particles, wherein the firing takes place in a furnace in a non-oxidizing and non-reducing gas environment. |
