abstract A micro capillary-assisted low-pressure evaporator comprises a plurality of microchannels disposed within a capillary tube, and has a plurality of substantially vertically oriented fins having a variegated exterior surface. The plurality of fins form grooves between adjacent fins for inducing capillary action of a refrigerant and the formation of a thin film of refrigerant disposed on the exterior surface of the fins. The microchannels reduce a flow resistance of a working fluid flowing through the evaporator while the plurality of fins increases the efficiency of evaporation of the refrigerant disposed thereon.
