abstract The purpose of the present invention is to provide a convenient and simple method for producing an N-alkoxycarbonylpiperidine derivative. This problem can be solved by a method for producing a hydroxypiperidine derivative, comprising a step for reacting, in the presence of a base, 4-hydroxypiperidine with (A) a piperidylideneacetic acid derivative represented by formula (1): (in the formula, R 1 is an aralkyl group which may have a substituent and R 2 is an alkyl group) according to the present invention to obtain a hydroxypiperidine derivative represented by formula (2) or (3): (in the formulas, R 1 is an aralkyl group which may have a substituent).
