titleOfInvention Method for manufacturing tetrafluoromethane
abstract Provided is a method for manufacturing tetrafluoromethane, whereby a reaction device is not prone to be damaged, and tetrafluoromethane can be stably manufactured safely and inexpensively. In the present invention, fluorine gas is introduced to a starting material liquid containing a reaction inducer and a fluorinated hydrocarbon represented by the chemical formula C p H q C1 r F s (In the chemical formula, p is an integer of 3 to 18, q is an integer of 0 to 3, r is an integer of 0 to 9, and s is an integer of 5 to 30.) and not having a C-C unsaturated bond, and tetrafluoromethane is manufactured. The reaction inducer is a halogen-containing carbon compound that is a liquid at normal temperature and pressure, and by reacting with fluorine gas, the reaction inducer induces a reaction for generating tetrafluoromethane from the fluorinated hydrocarbon and the fluorine gas. The content of the reaction inducer is more than 0% by mass to no more than 10% by mass, where the total content of the fluorinated hydrocarbon and the reaction inducer contained in the starting material liquid is 100% by mass.
