titleOfInvention | Pharmaceutical composition containing alpha-lipoic acid as active ingredient for preventing or treating sialadenitis |
abstract | The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition containing alpha-lipoic acid as an active ingredient for preventing or treating sialadenitis. According to the present invention, in sialadenitis induced by radioactive iodine, alpha-lipoic acid may increase an uptake rate of salivary glands and a saliva secretion reaction and decrease edema and vacuolation of acinar cells involved in saliva secretion. In addition, fibrosis of salivary gland tissue, cell death, and cell senescence can be reduced to thereby restore hypofunction of salivary glands. Therefore, the alpha-lipoic acid of the present invention having the above-mentioned effects can be usefully utilized as a pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating sialadenitis, and as a health food composition for preventing or improving sialadenitis. |
