abstract | The invention relates to a method for the detection of at least one target protein in a sample containing proteins, comprising the steps: i. sample preparation (e.g. homogenization, dilution etc. of the sample), ii. labelling all the proteins in the sample with a detector molecule, iii. applying the sample to a separating agent, iv. optional separation of all the proteins in the sample, v. fixing the at least one labelled target protein in the separating gel, vi. removing all proteins from the sample which are not target proteins (e.g. by washing), vii. detecting the at least one target protein by detection of the detector molecule, viii. optional quantification of the at least one target protein, and ix. optional digitization and archiving of the data. The invention also relates to a kit containing a detector molecule and instructions for carrying out the inventive method. The invention further provides a method for diagnosing a disease associated with monoclonal gammopathy, comprising the detection and quantification of at least one immunoglobulin in a sample according to the inventive method. |
