abstract | The purpose of the present invention is to reduce the weight and size of a lead storage battery and to improve the energy density per mass, by forming the base material of each component of the lead storage battery with use of aluminum or an alloy thereof, and by forming multiple plating layers on a surface of the base material. Further, in order to prevent generation of a pinhole in the multiple plating layers, a surface of a base material 22 is flattened, or a solder plating layer having a film thickness of at least 10 μm is formed, or multiple layers of a group 4 metal having similar chemical properties are laminated. In addition, in a positive electrode plate or a negative electrode plate thereof, an active material layer 24 is formed on an outermost lead plating layer by an electrolytic chemical formation method, whereby the charging and discharging efficiency of the lead storage battery can be improved, and detachment of the active material layer 24 is significantly reduced. |
