abstract |
The present invention proposes the use of an electrolytic bath to electrodeposit composite metallic zinc-copper-metal nanoparticles with antibacterial activity coatings, which inhibit the growth of bacteria such as Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus on the surface thereof by at least 90%. The method for formulating an electrolytic bath that allows antibacterial coatings to be produced comprises the following steps: (a) Addition of silver nanoparticles with antibacterial activity suspended in a cationic surfactant to a glycine-based electrolytic bath also containing dissolved Zn2+ salts and dissolved Cu2+ salts; (b) Electrodeposition of the composite metallic zinc-copper/silver nanoparticles coating. The occlusion of metal nanoparticles with antibacterial activity in the coating matrix confers antibacterial properties thereon. |
