abstract |
The invention is directed towards a method of identifying a subject at risk for developing hypoglycemia comprising administering to the subject a labeled monocarboxylate substrate for a period of time and determining percent enrichment of a metabolite, such as a monocarboxylate metabolite, in the subject, wherein percent enrichment of the metabolite is indicative of the subject's risk for hypoglycemia. The invention is further directed towards a kit for evaluating risk for developing hypoglycemia, hypoglycemia-associated complications, or a combination thereof. |
